The traditional Hindu system of Celebrating the Sixtieth Birth day is all the more a different one and the purpose of this blog is based on the personal experience and all that I personally faced.
I asked some learned scholars as to what the Traditions say about the Sixtieth birth day and what is to be done. It was a tough time for me to collect some data regarding the procedural aspect of the event. But then, continuous search made it all possible. The continuous search became more needed, when our only son Chiranjeevi Maruti Rama Raghav who did his MS and who is doing his job in USA continuously after me that "the event should be uniue of its nature and all people should know what it is and what has to be done. It should be in such a way that it becomes a landmark and a TRUE REFERRAL for all those who wish to enjoy the occasion". This pressure was on me for over a year - well before arriving at the sixtieth birth day. Therefore, I could not deny and escape from the procedural aspect. It was also not my intention to escape, but then, I have my concern for the "Child purse" and therefore, I tried to ignore, but ultimately it was to be given a true shape of its kind.
Lot of study took place on the subject, and many elderly scholars were consulted. If the Sixtieth birth day or the related events have to take place, the procedural aspect is that prayers are to be offered for the safety, health, and comfortable life of the concerned. Therefore, the first and fundamental aspect of the celebration is that the couple are to be taken to a river - a river of flow - where the couple are given bath 108 times and 108 times brushing and normal routine bathing procedure has to be take place. This is really a tough job for staying in water for such a length of time.
Ultimately, it has been agreed to make a silver big pot and reach the sacred Krishna River on the banks of which I was born at Vijayawada on 25th October 1947 - the bright tenth and eleventh day of Aswani Month of Lunar Calendar year named as Shri Sarvajit. Many friends and well wishers joined when our son Chiranjeevi Maruti Rama Raghav carried the first pot of the water on his shoulder and ready to pour on our heads when Shri Appajosyula Subrahmanya Sastry - a priest - chanting the relevant Vedic Hymn. This took place on the banks of River Krishna at Beechupalli in Mahaboobnagar District - nearly 180-200 kilo meters away from Hyderabad - the place of our Stay.
Chiranjeevi Raghav arrived on 6th of July 2008 specifically for this purpose from USA and before he is free from jetlog,we all reached the banks of the river on 7th in the morning hours and the procedure took nearly five hours while the travel time was more than six hours and we ultimately reached back Hyderabad in the night of 7th.
