We selected 12th and 13th since we never wanted to do this in Dakshinaayan. There are two cycles for Sun. The first part of the cycle called Uttarayana commences on 13th January every year and it is for six months. Normally 15th July every year the transit changes to Dakshinaayana till 12th January next year. The Uttarayana Part of the Sun Cycle is considered very auspicious, thus keeping in view of the change of the cycle of the Sun the program is designed on 12th and 13th of July.
I must invariably mention here that we can not choose a day of our choice, again, it all depends on the value and the strength of the star of the day on which we do anything. The next important thing to be remembered is that - Havan can not be completed to suit our need or purpose, as it has to be completed only when the star, hora and other matters relating to Poornahuti tallies. Thus fixation of a muhurat keeping in view of these many parameters, is more or less a very tough task. Again, keeping in view of the modern world, people convenience can also not be ignored. Thus Saturday and Sunday - being normal holidays for the office goer are mostly suited for some one to travel and reach the place and return back after attending. This is another MOST IMPORTANT CRITERIA which has also to be kept in view.
Fortunately, all the parameters remained satisfied on 12th and 13th and thus we entered the Yaaga Sala on 12th to commence the main function of Shashti Poorthi. Amidst, traditional band and music and also chanting of Vedic Hymns, the program commenced at 6.00 a.m of Saturday, the 12th July 2008. We may have to go back to the background once again before we proceed further with the program.
